Beware of the ones that get away


If callers are hanging-up when you ask them to stay on the line, it’s a sign they are not hearing a Message On Hold that is interesting and informative.
Keeping callers from hanging up the phone is a bit like fishing. You know you have the right bait because the fish keep on biting. What you don’t have is the right hook! A flick of the head, a swish of the tail and they’re off the line.

Nip the problem in the bud
Take a long critical listen to the program callers are hearing when you place them onhold. If you have to ring your front desk and ask to be put onhold do it!
